Resiliency and performance for cluster memory

A method implemented by a computer, comprising:

• marking a page of a memory of the computer as being reclaimed;
• setting the page of the memory as read-only;
• submitting a write request for contents of the page to individual ones of a plurality of memory hosts;
• receiving individual confirmations of a successful write of the page from the individual ones of the plurality of memory hosts;
• marking the page as free in response to receipt of the individual confirmations of the successful write from the individual ones of the plurality of memory hosts
• receiving a request to read from a page stored by the plurality of memory hosts;
• determining that a probability that data will be written the page is less than a predefined threshold or that network bandwidth is a constrained resource;
• and
• sending a request to at least one of the plurality of memory hosts, the request identifying the page to be read and that the page is to remain in the memory of the at least one of the plurality of memory hosts.

A non-transitory, computer-readable medium comprising machine-readable instructions that, when executed by a processor of a computing device, cause the computing device to at least:

• mark a page of a memory as being reclaimed;
• set the page of the memory as read-only;
• submit a first write request to a first one of a plurality of memory hosts, wherein the first write request specifies that the page is to be stored in the memory of the first one of the plurality of memory hosts;
• submit a second write request to a second one of the plurality of memory hosts, wherein the second write request specifies that the page is to be stored on a disk of the second one of the plurality of memory hosts;
• receive individual confirmations of a successful write of the page from individual ones of the plurality of memory hosts;
• and
• mark the page as free in response to receipt of the individual confirmations of the successful write from the individual ones of the plurality of memory hosts.
