Abstract
An input device includes a touchpad and a mounting bracket made of an electrically conductive material and configured to anchor the touchpad in an electronic system. The input device further includes a near field communication (NFC) controller, and an antenna electrically interfaced with the NFC controller. The antenna includes an electrically conductive strip formed by a segment of the mounting bracket.
Claims9
An input device, comprising:
- a touchpad;
- a mounting bracket, adjacent to the touchpad, made of an electrically conductive material and configured to anchor the touchpad in an electronic system;
- a near field communication (NFC) controller;
- and
- an antenna electrically interfaced with the NFC controller,
- wherein the antenna comprises an electrically conductive strip formed by a segment of the mounting bracket, and
- wherein the electrically conductive strip is partially separated from the mounting bracket by a U-shaped gap establishing a free end of the electrically conductive strip, wherein the U-shaped gap is within the mounting bracket.
