Abstract
According to an aspect, a touch detection device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate opposed to the first substrate; a cover base material opposed to the second substrate; a plurality of first electrodes overlapping a display region on a plane parallel with the first substrate; and a second electrode arranged at the cover base material and overlapping a frame region outside the display region. Proximity or contact of an object with respect to the frame region is detected based on capacitance between the first electrodes and the second electrode. The second electrode extends along a side of the frame region.
Claims6
A touch detection device comprising:
- a first substrate;
- a plurality of first touch electrodes arranged in a matrix on the first substrate;
- a second substrate that is opposed to the substrate and that has a frame region outside the first touch electrodes on the first substrate;
- a plurality of peripheral touch electrodes surrounding the first touch electrodes, in the frame region of the second substrate;
- and
- a coloring layer is disposed between the peripheral touch electrodes and the second substrate in a vertical direction perpendicular to the second substrate,
- wherein
- the peripheral touch electrodes include:
- a first peripheral electrode having an L-shape and including a first peripheral electrode portion extending in a first direction and a second peripheral electrode portion extending in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, the first peripheral electrode portion and the second peripheral electrode portion being connected at a first corner of the second substrate;
- and
- a second peripheral electrode having the L-shape and including a third peripheral electrode portion extending in the first direction and a fourth peripheral electrode portion extending in the second direction, the third peripheral electrode portion and the fourth peripheral electrode portion being connected at a second corner of the second substrate, the second corner opposing the first corner,
- the first peripheral electrode having the L-shape and the second peripheral electrode having the L-shape surround an area in which the first touch electrodes are arranged such that:
- each of the first peripheral electrode portion and the third peripheral electrode portion has a length in the first direction, the length being greater than a first length in the first direction between outer ends of outermost first touch electrodes arranged in the first direction,
- each of the second peripheral electrode portion and the fourth peripheral electrode portion has a length in the second direction, the length being greater than a second length in the second direction between outer ends of outermost first touch electrodes arranged in the second direction,
- an area of the second substrate is larger than an area of the first substrate, and
- the peripheral touch electrodes overlap the coloring layer in the frame region.
