Abstract
Systems and method for synchrophasing aircraft engines are disclosed. One method comprises receiving data indicative of a sensed vibration level associated with a first aircraft engine and a second aircraft engine operating at a substantially same operating speed and commanding one or more momentary changes in operating speed of the second aircraft engine until the sensed vibration level substantially reaches a target vibration level. The momentary changes in operating speed of the second aircraft engine is commanded irrespective of phase information associated with imbalances of the first and second aircraft engines.
Claims18
A method for synchrophasing aircraft engines, the method comprising:
- detecting, by one or more sensors, a sensed vibration level associated with a first aircraft engine and a second aircraft engine operating at a substantially same operating speed;
- receiving, at a controller, data indicative of the sensed vibration level;
- and
- commanding, by the controller, one or more momentary changes in operating speed of the second aircraft engine until the sensed vibration level substantially reaches a target vibration level, the momentary changes in operating speed of the second aircraft engine being commanded irrespective of phase information associated with imbalances of the first and second aircraft engines, wherein a magnitude of at least one of the one or more momentary changes in operating speed is related to a magnitude of a difference between the sensed vibration level and the target vibration level.
A system for synchrophasing aircraft engines, the system comprising:
- one or more sensors configured to detect a sensed vibration level associated with a first aircraft engine and a second aircraft engine operating at a substantially same operating speed;
- and
- one or more controllers operationally coupled to receive data indicative of the sensed vibration level detected by the one or more sensors, the one or more controllers being configured to command one or more momentary changes in operating speed of the second aircraft engine until the sensed vibration level substantially reaches a target vibration level, the momentary changes in operating speed of the second aircraft engine being commanded irrespective of phase information associated with imbalances of the first and second aircraft engines;
- wherein a magnitude of at least one of the one or more momentary changes in operating speed is related to a magnitude of a difference between the sensed vibration level and the target vibration level.
