A method for treating a patient including a human patient or an animal patient requiring treatment, by way of an implantable system which performs a diagnostic and/or therapeutic treatment of the human patient or the animal patient, the implantable system containing a processor, a memory, a treatment unit and a remote data transmitter, the method comprises the following steps of:
- delivering, by the treatment unit of the implantable system, atrial antitachycardia stimulation to the heart of the patient and then reducing a risk of thrombosis by deactivating an ability of the treatment unit to deliver further atrial antitachycardia stimulation after an expiration of a presettable time, the presettable time being a time period of about 48 hours and after which an unsuccessful treatment of atrial tachycardia increases the patient's risk of thrombosis;
- receiving reactivation data by way of the remote data transmitter;
- reactivating the ability of the treatment unit to subsequently deliver the further atrial antitachycardia stimulation based on the reactivation data that was received;
- and
- delivering, by the treatment unit, the further atrial antitachycardia stimulation to the patient.
