Abstract
An effector includes a tubular body having a proximal end and a distal end. The effector holds a plug or closure at the distal end of the tubular body; an active electrode at the distal end of the body; an insulator on the body; and one or more return electrodes on the insulator. The body dissipates heat generated by the one or more return electrodes from the distal end of the body to the proximal end of the body.
Claims17
An effector comprising:
- an electrically conductive body having a proximal end and a distal end and defining an interior cavity;
- an active electrode at the distal end of the body;
- an electrical insulator on the body;
- and
- one or more return electrodes on the insulator;
- wherein the active electrode is a portion of an electrically conductive plug attached to the distal end of the body;
- wherein the plug is at least partially inserted into the interior cavity of the body;
- and
- wherein the active electrode is electrically connected to the body and the one or more return electrodes are electrically insulated from the body.

An effector comprising:
- an electrically conductive body having a proximal end and a distal end;
- an active electrode electrically coupled to the body at the distal end;
- an electrical insulator disposed on at least a portion of the body;
- and
- one or more return electrodes disposed on the insulator such that the one or more return electrodes are electrically insulated from the body;
- wherein the insulator is configured to function as a thermal conductor to transfer heat from the one or more return electrodes to the body;
- and
- wherein the body is configured to dissipate heat generated by the one or more return electrodes from the distal end of the body to the proximal end of the body.
5 more elements
A method of making an effector comprising:
- providing an insulator over at least a portion of an electrically conductive tubular body having a proximal end, a distal end, and an interior cavity;
- providing an active electrode at the distal end of the body, wherein the active electrode is disposed on a portion of an electrically conductive plug, and wherein providing the active electrode comprises inserting the plug at least partially into the interior cavity of the body;
- and
- providing one or more return electrodes on the insulator.
