Abstract
Systems and methods can be used to produce fibers with external corrugations, internal corrugations, or both. These fibers can be used, for example, in hollow fiber membrane modules.
Claims23
A machine for producing fibers for use in a hollow fiber module, the machine comprising:
- a spinneret having a base and a needle, the base and the needle at least partially defining a channel having an axis;
- at least one projection extending into the channel;
- and
- a motor connected to the at least one projection, the motor operable to rotate, in a first direction, the at least one projection relative to the axis of the channel, wherein the motor is operable to rotate, in a second direction opposite the first direction, the at least one projection relative to the axis of the channel;
- and
- a control unit operable to transmit signals to a receiver of the motor, wherein the signals prompt the motor to rotate in the first direction and prompt the motor to rotate in the second direction.

- a spinneret defining a first channel, the spinneret having at least one proj ection extending into the first channel;
- and
