Abstract
Techniques for regenerating reverberation include generating a reverberation signal based on a source signal and a response of a listening space, generating a compressed reverberation signal by increasing output levels of a first portion of the reverberation signal having output levels below a threshold level more than output levels of a second portion of the reverberation signal having output levels above the threshold level, and combining the compressed reverberation signal with the source signal to form an output signal for the listening space.
Claims20
A method of regenerating reverberation, the method comprising:
- generating a reverberation signal based on a source signal and a response of a listening space;
- generating a compressed reverberation signal by increasing output levels of a first portion of the reverberation signal having output levels below a threshold level more than output levels of a second portion of the reverberation signal having output levels above the threshold level;
- and
- combining the compressed reverberation signal with the source signal to form an output signal for the listening space.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media including instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, configure the one or more processors to perform the steps of:
- generating a reverberation signal based on a source signal and a response of a listening space;
- generating a compressed reverberation signal by increasing output levels of a first portion of the reverberation signal having output levels below a threshold level more than output levels of a second portion of the reverberation signal having output levels above the threshold level;
- and
- combining the compressed reverberation signal with the source signal to form an output signal for the listening space.
A system, comprising:
- a loudspeaker;
- and
- at least one processor configured to execute instructions to:
- generate a reverberation signal based on a source signal and a response of a listening space;
- generate a compressed reverberation signal based on the reverberation signal increasing output levels of a first portion of the reverberation signal having output levels below a threshold level more than output levels of a second portion of the reverberation signal having output levels above the threshold level;
- combine the compressed reverberation signal with the source signal to form an output signal;
- and
- play back the output signal on the loudspeaker.
