Abstract
A swivel knuckle assembly for interconnecting a motor and a supply line. The knuckle assembly may include a bearing member to reduce a coefficient of friction. A locking mechanism is disclosed to connect members of the knuckle assembly.
Claims16
A method of forming a swivel connection assembly between a power supply and a motor assembly, comprising:
- inserting into a first annular member a second annular member at least by aligning a first locking member positioned in a closed pocket with a second groove formed in an internal surface of the first annular member;
- positioning the first locking member in the closed pocket formed in an external surface of the second annular member;
- rotating the second annular member relative to the first annular member to align an elongated open pocket formed in the external surface of the second annular member with a second axial groove formed in the internal surface of the first annular member to form a passage;
- and
- positioning a second locking member in the formed passage;
- wherein the positioned first locking member and the positioned second locking member axially and rotationally lock the first annular member relative to the second annular member.

A method of forming a swivel connection assembly between a power supply and a motor assembly, comprising:
- providing a first annular member having a first internal wall having formed in the first internal wall an inner circumferential groove formed and extending around at least a portion of an inner circumference of the first member and an axial groove extending from the inner circumferential groove;
- providing a second annular member having a second internal wall and an external surface;
- providing a closed pocket formed in the external surface;
- providing an elongated open pocket formed in the external surface angularly spaced from the closed pocket;
- providing a first locking member operable to be placed in the closed pocket and moveable through the axial groove into the inner circumferential groove;
- and
- providing a second locking member operable to be passed through a locking passage formed by cooperation of the first axial locking groove and the elongated open pockets;
- wherein the second annular member is configured to be inserted into the first annular member when the first locking member is aligned with the axial groove.
