Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for inducing production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The method includes administering, to an individual, a composition including adeno-associated virus (AAV) carrying a hPGIS gene coding for human prostacyclin synthase (hPGIS) which synthesizes prostaglandin I2 (PGI2).
Claims4
A method for inducing production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), the method comprising:
- administering, to an individual, a composition comprising an adeno-associated virus (AAV) carrying a hPGIS gene coding for human prostacyclin synthase (hPGIS) and a second gene coding for an angiogenesis factor selected from the group consisting of genes coding for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and VEGF-2, wherein the hPGIS synthesizes prostaglandin I2 (PGI2) and induces production of VEGF in the individual, and wherein the AAV induces the activities of vasodilation, anti-platelet aggregation, and angiogenesis.
