Abstract
A rat attractant composition is disclosed which includes one or more isolated additives. The composition is attractive to at least rats of the species Rattus norvegicus. Devices including the rat attractant composition and methods of using a rat attractant composition are also disclosed.

A rat attractant composition comprising:
- a pheromone blend consisting of 2-methyl-butyric acid, 3-methyl-butyric acid, heptanal, hexanoic acid, benzaldehyde, 2-phenylacetaldehyde, nonanal, and decanal;
- wherein the pheromone blend is synthetic or purified;
- and
- wherein female rats of the species Rattus norvegicus are attracted to the rat attractant composition;
- and wherein the rat attractant composition does not comprise any other pheromone(s).

A device comprising:
- a housing for receiving one or more rats;
- and
- a rat attractant composition comprising a pheromone blend consisting of 2-methyl-butyric acid, 3-methyl-butyric acid, heptanal, hexanoic acid, benzaldehyde, 2-phenylacetaldehyde, nonanal, and decanal, wherein the pheromone blend is synthetic or purified;
- wherein the rat attractant composition is adjacent to or included within the housing;
- wherein female rats of the species Rattus norvegicus are attracted to the rat attractant composition;
- and wherein the rat attractant composition does not comprise any other pheromone(s).
