Abstract
A display apparatus is provided. The display apparatus includes a display configured to display a user interface window for receiving a letter input; a communication interface configured to receive a control instruction for inputting letters from a control device; and a controller configured to control the display to selectively display an on-screen keypad for inputting letters on the user interface window based on whether the control device includes letter keys for inputting letters.
Claims20
A display device comprising:
- a display;
- a communication circuitry configured to communicate with at least one external device;
- and
- at least one processor configured to:
- control the display to display a text input user interface (UI) for displaying at least one input letter,
- in response to receiving letter information from a first external device including a plurality of letter keys for inputting letters through the communication circuitry, control the display to display at least one letter on the text input UI based on the received letter information, and
- in response to identifying that the first external device is disconnected from the display device while the at least one letter is displayed on the text input UI, control the display to display a keypad UI including a plurality of letter UI items respectively corresponding to a plurality of letters while the text input UI is displayed on the display.

A controlling method of a display device, the controlling method comprising:
- displaying a text input user interface (UI) for displaying at least one input letter,
- in response to receiving letter information from a first external device including a plurality of letter keys for inputting letters through a communication circuitry, displaying at least one letter on the text input UI based on the received letter information, and
- in response to identifying that the first external device is disconnected from the display device while the at least one letter is displayed on the text input UI, displaying a keypad UI including a plurality of letter UI items respectively corresponding to a plurality of letters while the text input UI is displayed on the display.
