Abstract
An interface matrix arrangement for multi-beam, multi-port antenna is described.
Claims22
A wireless access point comprising:
- a first radio providing, during operation of the wireless access device, at least a first and a second radio frequency (RF) communication signals in a first channel;
- a first Butler matrix with multiple input ports and multiple output ports, wherein a first output port is coupled to a first set of antennas and a second output port is coupled to a second set of antennas;
- a first interface matrix circuitry comprising at least two single pole K-throw RF switches, where at least two outputs from the single pole K-throw RF switches are coupled to different input ports of the first Butler matrix;
- wherein the first interface matrix circuitry is configured to
- receive at least the first and second RF signals from the first radio, and
- couple the at least first and second RF signals to two different input ports of the Butler matrix;
- wherein the first radio is assignable to a plurality of spatial sectors, and further comprises:
- a processor bank including one or more processors;
- and
- non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the processor bank to perform operations comprising:
- (i) assigning the first radio to a corresponding spatial sector of the plurality of spatial sectors;
- (ii) configuring the first interface matrix circuitry to radiate, along the first direction into the particular spatial sector, the first RF signal;
- (iii) configuring the first interface matrix circuitry to radiate, along the second direction into the particular spatial sector, the second RF signal;
- and
- (iv) dynamically reassigning the first radio to other different spatial sector of the plurality of sectors apart from the particular spatial sector in response to receiving and transmitting information from a network for dedicating and rededicating assignment of the first radio to specific spatial sectors and configuring the first interface matrix circuitry to radiate the RF signals of the radio in the different spatial sector.
