Methods, systems, and media for determining channel information

A method for providing media guidance, the method comprising:

• transmitting, using a media device, a request to a plurality of media playback devices connected to a network for device information;
• receiving one or more responses that includes the device information for one or more of the plurality of media playback devices connected to the network;
• in response to receiving the one or more responses to the request, extracting, from the device information included in each of the one or more responses to the request, (i) device details associated with a media playback device and (ii) first location information associated with the media playback device;
• determining, without user intervention, second location information of the media device based on the first location information associated with each of the one or more of the plurality of media playback devices that responded to the request;
• and
• causing media guidance information based on the second location information associated with the media device to be presented.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for providing media guidance, the method comprising:

• transmitting, using a media device, a request to a plurality of media playback devices connected to a network for device information;
• receiving one or more responses that includes the device information for one or more of the plurality of media playback devices connected to the network;
• in response to receiving the one or more responses to the request, extracting, from the device information included in each of the one or more responses to the request, (i) device details associated with a media playback device and (ii) first location information associated with the media playback device;
• determining, without user intervention, second location information of the media device based on the first location information associated with each of the one or more of the plurality of media playback devices that responded to the request;
• and
• causing media guidance information based on the second location information associated with the media device to be presented.
