Abstract
A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may perform, for example, a method for receiving interference information, identifying a plurality of interferers, approximating a location of the plurality of interferers, and adjusting an antenna pattern of an antenna. The method can include determining traffic loads and adjusting the antenna pattern according to the traffic loads. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- receiving, at a base station including a processing system having a processor, a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals from a plurality of mobile communication devices, wherein the plurality of OFDM signals include a plurality of different frequencies of different communication channels;
- determining, by the processing system, interference information of an interfering mobile communication device of the plurality of mobile communication devices, wherein the determining the interference information comprises averaging power measurements at each of the plurality of different frequencies over time;
- reporting, by the processing system, the interference information to a diagnostic system distinct from the base station;
- and
- receiving from the diagnostic system, by the processing system based on reports from a plurality of processing systems, instructions to adjust an antenna pattern of a first antenna of the base station to reduce interference by the interfering mobile communication device.
A non-transitory, machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system of a base station including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- receiving, at the base station, a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals from a plurality of mobile communication devices, wherein the plurality of OFDM signals include a plurality of different frequencies of different communication channels;
- determining interference information of an interfering mobile communication device of the plurality of mobile communication devices, wherein the determining the interference information comprises averaging power measurements at each of the plurality of different frequencies over time;
- reporting the interference information to a diagnostic system distinct from the base station;
- and
- receiving, from the diagnostic system based on reports from a plurality of processing systems, instructions to adjust an antenna pattern of a first antenna of the base station to reduce interference by the interfering mobile communication device.
A base station, comprising:
- a processing system including a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- receiving a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals from a plurality of mobile communication devices, wherein the plurality of OFDM signals include a plurality of different frequencies of different communication channels;
- determining interference information of an interfering mobile communication device of the plurality of mobile communication devices, wherein the determining the interference information comprises averaging power measurements at each of the plurality of different frequencies over time;
- reporting the interference information to a diagnostic system distinct from the base station;
- and
- receiving, from the diagnostic system based on reports from a plurality of processing systems, instructions to adjust an antenna pattern of a first antenna of the base station to reduce interference by the interfering mobile communication device.
