Abstract
A system includes an electronic module and an integrated circuit outside the electronic module. The integrated circuit is configured to generate a digital timing signal that emulates a first synchronization signal internal to the module and not available outside the module and to generate trigger signals based on the digital timing signal. A controller is configured to independently and autonomously perform control operations of the electronic module at times triggered by the trigger signals.
Claims29
A method, comprising:
- communicating, by an electronic circuit, a first synchronization signal to an external electronic circuit;
- generating, by the external electronic circuit, a digital timing signal to emulate the first synchronization signal;
- and
- operating the electronic circuit using the digital timing signal to generate trigger signals for externally controlling the electronic circuit, the trigger signals being generated conditionally based on current values of a count of edges of the digital timing signal.

An integrated circuit, comprising:
- a timing signal generator configured to generate, outside an electronic circuit, a digital timing signal to emulate a first synchronization signal internal to the electronic circuit and not available outside the electronic circuit;
- a trigger circuit configured to generate trigger signals for externally controlling the electronic circuit, the trigger circuit comprising a counter configured to count edges of the digital timing signal;
- a trigger signal generation circuit configured to generate second trigger signals in a manner conditional on current values of the counter;
- and
- an output configured to be coupled to the electronic circuit.

A system comprising:
- an electronic circuit;
- an integrated circuit outside the electronic circuit, the integrated circuit configured to generate a digital timing signal to emulate a first synchronization signal internal to the electronic circuit and not available outside the electronic circuit and to generate trigger signals based on the digital timing signal;
- and
- a controller configured to independently and autonomously perform control operations of the electronic circuit at times triggered by the trigger signals, wherein the trigger signals are generated conditionally based on current values of a count of edges of the digital timing signal.
