Processing allocation in data center fleets

A system comprising:

• a data center comprising a plurality of processing devices, wherein at least some processing devices are configured to communicate with one another via peer-to-peer connections;
• memory for storing instructions and data, the data including a plurality of predefined subgroups of the plurality of processing devices, each subgroup including one or more processing devices, the data further including bandwidth information indicating available bandwidth for each of the subgroups, and power information indicating an amount of power needed by each subgroup to execute a task, wherein the amount of power includes a combination of power needed to operate processing devices of the subgroup and power needed to operate cooling devices of the subgroup;
• and
• one or more processors coupled to the memory and configured to execute the stored instructions to:
• receive a first task to be assigned to a subgroup of the plurality of processing devices;
• accessing, by the one or more processors, the bandwidth information and the power information associated with the plurality of subgroups;
• assigning, by the one or more processors, the first task to a first subgroup based on the bandwidth information and the power information associated with the first subgroup;
• and
• updating, by the one or more processors, the power information associated with the first subgroup in response to assignment of the first task to the first subgroup.
