Abstract
Methods for tracking a signal origin by a spectrum analysis and management device are disclosed. Signal characteristics of other known emitters are used for obtaining a position of an emitter of a signal of interest. In one embodiment, frequency difference of arrival technique is implemented. In another embodiment, time difference of arrival technique is implemented.
Claims20
A spectrum analysis and management device, comprising:
- a radio frequency (RF) receiver;
- a location receiver;
- a memory;
- and
- a processor coupled to the RF receiver, the location receiver, and the memory;
- wherein the spectrum analysis and management device is operable to determine a Time Difference of Arrival or a Frequency Difference of Arrival for a signal of interest;
- wherein the spectrum analysis and management device is operable to identify a location from which the signal of interest is transmitted;
- wherein the spectrum analysis and management device is operable to determine whether at least four known emitters are present at the location;
- wherein the spectrum analysis and management device is operable to obtain a cross ambiguity function for the signal of interest;
- wherein the spectrum analysis and management device is operable to determine the cross ambiguity function does not converge to a solution;
- wherein the spectrum analysis and management device is operable to determine a time shift of the signal of interest;
- wherein the spectrum analysis and management device is operable to aggregate time shift data;
- and
- wherein the spectrum analysis and management device is operable to resolve a position of an emitter from which the signal of interest is emitted.
