Full field retinal imaging system for characterization of eye trackers

A retinal imaging system comprising:

• an imaging device configured to capture one or more images of a retina of an eye;
• and
• a controller coupled to an eye tracking system under test that is separate and independent from the retinal imaging system, the controller configured to:
• receive, directly from the eye tracking system under test, information about a location of a pupil of the eye estimated by the eye tracking system under test,
• generate, based on the received information, an instruction signal for spatial modulation of light emitted from the retinal imaging system, at least a portion of the spatially modulated light reaching the retina,
• determine one or more eye tracking parameters for the eye using the captured one or more images of the retina, and
• compare the determined one or more eye tracking parameters with at least one eye tracking parameter for the eye estimated by the eye tracking system under test.
