Abstract
The disclosed technology generally relates to a compressor housing, comprising a first portion configured to house a compressor motor of a centrifugal compressor, a second portion configured to house an inlet housing of the centrifugal compressor, where the inlet housing is configured to receive refrigerant into an impeller assembly of the centrifugal compressor, and at least one refrigerant accumulator upstream of the second portion, the at least one refrigerant accumulator configured to accumulate liquid refrigerant.
Claims19
A compressor housing, comprising:
- a first portion configured to house a compressor motor of a centrifugal compressor, wherein the first portion includes an inlet port, wherein the first portion comprises a first volume and a second volume separated by a porous wall, and wherein the first volume is configured to house the compressor motor;
- a second portion configured to house an inlet housing of the centrifugal compressor, wherein the second portion includes an outlet port configured to flow refrigerant to an outside of the compressor housing, and wherein the inlet housing is configured to receive refrigerant into an impeller assembly of the centrifugal compressor;
- and
- at least one refrigerant accumulator upstream of the second portion, wherein the at least one refrigerant accumulator is configured to accumulate liquid refrigerant within the compressor housing, and wherein the second volume of the first portion includes the at least one refrigerant accumulator.
A centrifugal compressor, comprising:
- a compressor motor;
- an impeller assembly operably coupled to the compressor motor;
- an inlet housing configured to receive refrigerant into the impeller assembly;
- and
- a compressor housing comprising:
- a first portion configured to house the compressor motor, wherein the first portion includes an inlet port, wherein the first portion comprises a first volume and a second volume separated by a porous wall, and wherein the first volume is configured to house the compressor motor;
- a second portion configured to house the inlet housing, wherein the second portion includes an outlet port configured to flow refrigerant to an outside of the compressor housing;
- and
- at least one refrigerant accumulator upstream of the second portion, wherein the at least one refrigerant accumulator is configured to accumulate liquid refrigerant within the compressor housing, and wherein the second volume of the first portion includes the at least one refrigerant accumulator.
