Abstract
The present invention relates to a liposomal formulation containing a therapeutic agent and a process for producing the formulation. The liposomal formulation comprises particular characteristics that enhance uniformity and stability of the formulation. The manufacturing process is a novel process that produces a liposomal formulation of a uniform size with many desirable properties that may be independently controlled. Further, the invention relates to a liposome formulation made in accordance with the manufacturing process.
Claims19
A liposome having a lipid ingredient and encapsulating a therapeutic agent, wherein a mass ratio of said therapeutic agent to lipid ingredient is about 1:5 to 1:8, wherein the lipid ingredient comprises a phospholipid and cholesterol, the lipid ingredient comprising at least 20 molar percentage cholesterol, and wherein the liposome has osmolality internal to the liposome in a range of 340-440 mO/kg.
A formulation comprising a liposome, said liposome having a lipid ingredient and a therapeutic agent, a mass ratio of the therapeutic agent to lipid ingredient being about 1:5 to 1:8, wherein the lipid ingredient comprises a phospholipid and cholesterol, the lipid ingredient comprising at least 20 molar percentage cholesterol, and wherein the liposome has osmolality internal to the liposome in a range of 340-440 mO/kg.
