Abstract
This disclosure provides genetically modified plants, plant cells and plant tissues that show modified lignin content and/or sugar release as compared to a wild type control plant which was not genetically modified. In addition, the disclosure provides methods of regulating lignin content and sugar release in a plant. The disclosure also provides methods of producing bioproducts using the genetically modified plants of the instant disclosure.
Claims9
A genetically modified plant, plant cell or plant tissue of the Populus genus, the genetic modification comprising
- overexpressing a PtrhAT gene, in the plant, plant cell or plant tissue, wherein the PtrhAT gene encodes a protein comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO 2.
A method comprising genetically modifying a plant, plant cell or plant tissue of the Populus genus plant, wherein the genetic modifying comprises overexpressing a PtrhAT gene in the plant, plant cell or plant tissue, wherein the PtrhAT gene encodes a protein comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 2.
