Abstract
This invention relates to a novel application of liquid-infused surface materials (LISM) to at least a portion of one or more surfaces of razor components (e.g., frame, housing, clips, blade supports, blade body, blade edge, lubricating bodies, guard, handle, grip, button). If applied to a skin contacting surface of a component, the one or more LISM layers may generally be abrasion-resistant, long-lasting or non-erodible, desirably elevating shaving performance, such as glide, comfort, rinsing, and cleanliness, while also simplifying the manufacturing process.
Claims16
A razor apparatus comprising:
- a first layer of a first LISM material having a first coefficient of friction disposed on a surface of a first razor component;
- and
- a second layer of a second LISM material having a second coefficient of friction disposed on a surface of a second razor component,
- wherein said first coefficient of friction is different than said second coefficient of friction.
A method of making a razor component comprising:
- providing a porous solid on a first surface of said razor component;
- impregnating liquid into said porous solid to form a first layer of a LISM material;
- and
- providing a second layer of non-LISM material on a second surface of said razor component.
