Abstract
Provided herein are pharmaceutically acceptable compositions containing macrolide antibiotics, in particular azithromycin. In particular, compositions containing azithromycin with low toxicity, especially for administration to felines, are provided herein.

A non-aqueous composition, comprising:
- (i) a mono- or di-hydrate macrolide;
- (ii) at least 23% w/w of a first solvent, wherein the first solvent is triacetin;
- (iii) a second solvent, wherein the second solvent is a triglyceride solvent;
- and
- (iv) an excipient.

A composition formulated for injection, comprising about 54.0% w/w caprylic triglycerides;
- about 38.0% w/w triacetin;
- Polyoxyl 15 Hydroxystearate;
- and about 7.0% w/w azithromycin dihydrate.
A non-aqueous composition, comprising:

- (ii) at least 23% w/w of a first solvent, wherein the first solvent is triacetin;
- (iii) a second solvent, wherein the second solvent is a triglyceride solvent;

- (iv) an excipient.
