Abstract
A novel maize variety designated PH490J and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant comprise crossing maize variety PH490J with another maize plant are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PH490J through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are provided. Hybrid maize seed, plants or plant parts are produced by crossing the variety PH490J or a locus conversion of PH490J with another maize variety.
Claims20
A seed, plant, plant part, or plant cell of inbred maize variety PH490J, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under NCMA accession number 202209018.
A converted seed, plant, plant part or plant cell of inbred maize variety PH490J, representative seed of the maize variety PH490J having been deposited under NCMA accession number 202209018, wherein the converted seed, plant, plant part or plant cell comprises fewer than six locus conversions, and wherein the plant or a plant grown from the converted seed, plant part or plant cell comprises the fewer than six locus conversions and otherwise comprises the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize variety PH490J when grown under the same environmental conditions, and further wherein the fewer than six locus conversion confer a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, a site for site-specific recombination, abiotic stress tolerance, altered phosphate, altered antioxidants, altered fatty acids, altered essential amino acids, altered carbohydrates, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance and disease resistance.
An F1 hybrid seed produced by crossing a plant or plant part of inbred maize variety PH490J, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under NCMA accession number 202209018 with a different maize plant, wherein inbred maize variety PH490J further comprises a transgene that is inherited by the seed, wherein the transgene was introduced into inbred maize variety PH490J by backcrossing or genetic transformation.
