Abstract
The disclosure is directed to methods and systems for provisioning mobile electric vehicles with various operational settings data transmitted over the air. A vehicle or its components may operate according to operational settings corresponding to operational settings data included in the vehicle components. A server that is remote to the vehicle may comprise operational settings data and may transmit operational settings data to the vehicle. The server may transmit operational settings data automatically, such as on a periodic basis, in response to a request, such as from a user or from a vehicle component or anytime new or updated operational settings data are available for the vehicle or its components.
Claims20
A computing system for over-the-air provisioning of a vehicle's operational settings, the computing system comprising:
- a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith;
- and
- one or more processors configured to execute the program instructions to cause the computing system to:
- wirelessly transmit operational settings options to a user remote to the computing system;
- receive, from the user, a selection of one or more of the operational settings options;
- identify operational settings data corresponding to the one or more operational settings options selected by the user, the operational settings data configured to control one or more operations of a vehicle management system of the vehicle to control a transfer of energy from a first energy storage device of the vehicle to a second energy storage device of the vehicle;
- and
- wirelessly transmit the operational settings data to the vehicle management system of the vehicle remote to the computing system.
A method for over-the-air provisioning of a vehicle's operational settings, the method comprising:
- wirelessly transmitting, from a server, operational settings options to a user remote to the server;
- receiving, at the server, a selection of one or more of the operational settings options from the user;
- identifying operational settings data corresponding to the one or more operational settings options selected by the user, the operational settings data configured to control one or more operations of a vehicle management system of the vehicle to control a transfer of energy from a first energy storage device of the vehicle to a second energy storage device of the vehicle;
- and
- wirelessly transmitting the operational settings data to the vehicle management system of the vehicle.
A vehicle management device for managing over-the-air provisioning of a vehicle's operational settings, the vehicle management device comprising:
- a transceiver configured to communicate wirelessly with a remote server to receive operational settings data from the server;
- a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith;
- and
- one or more processors configured to execute program instructions to cause the vehicle management device to:
- detect a component of the vehicle;
- determine an operational incompatibility of the component;
- transmit, via the transceiver, a request for operational settings data to a server remote to the vehicle, wherein the operational settings data are configured to control one or more operations of the vehicle management device relating to an energy management of the vehicle;
- receive, via the transceiver and from the server, operational settings data corresponding to the request;
- update the program instructions according to the operational settings data;
- and
- execute the updated program instructions to cause the vehicle management device to operate according to an operational setting corresponding to the operational settings data received from the server to render the component of the vehicle compatible with the vehicle management device.
Non-transitory computer-readable media including computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising:
- detecting a component of a vehicle;
- determining an operational incompatibility of the component with the vehicle;
- transmitting, via a transceiver, a request for operational settings data to a server remote to the vehicle, wherein the operational settings data are configured to control one or more operations of a vehicle management device relating to an energy management of the vehicle;
- receiving, via the transceiver and from the server, operational settings data corresponding to the request;
- updating program instructions according to the operational settings data;
- and
- executing the updated program instructions to cause the vehicle management device to operate according to an operational setting corresponding to the operational settings data received from the server to render the component of the vehicle compatible with the vehicle management device.
