Abstract
According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided an animal feed additive, which contains lignin-containing microcellulose, especially lignin-containing microcrystalline cellulose, for improving feed conversion rates of production animals, such as poultry.

An animal feed which increases body weight gain and/or a feed conversion rate of an animal, the animal feed comprising an animal feed additive incorporated into the animal feed, wherein the animal feed additive comprises lignin-containing microcellulose having a glucose content of at least 70% by weight and a lignin content of from 5-20% by weight.
