Abstract
To allow more daylighting and protect against direct solar radiation, the system may include a window shading system that impacts an area (or area of interest). The system may adjust different window shades in different ways and for different periods of time to protect against a direct solar radiation onto an area of interest. The system may provide targeted shadows onto the area of interest. The system may also analyze or predict angles of solar rays that comprise the direct solar radiation and determine an impact of the solar rays on the area of interest, wherein the adjusting of window shades is based on the determining.

A method, comprising:
- adjusting, by a processor and based on sensor data associated with daylight on an area of interest, a first window shade a first adjustment to create a first pattern of shade that protects against direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- adjusting, by the processor and based on the sensor data, a second window shade a second adjustment to create a second pattern of shade that protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- adjusting, by the processor and based on the sensor data, a third window shade a third adjustment to create a third pattern of shade that protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- creating, by the processor, an overall pattern of shade by the combination of the first pattern of shade, the second pattern of shade and the third pattern of shade at the area of interest, wherein the overall pattern of shade protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- and
- communicating, by the processor and to an artificial lighting control system, information regarding at least one of a presence of shadow or reflected light on the area of interest such that the artificial lighting system adjusts the artificial lighting.
A method comprising:
- adjusting, by a processor and based on sensor data associated with daylight on an area of interest, a first window shade a first adjustment to create a first pattern of shade that protects against direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- adjusting, by the processor and based on the sensor data, a second window shade a second adjustment to create a second pattern of shade that protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- adjusting, by the processor and based on the sensor data, a third window shade a third adjustment to create a third pattern of shade that protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- creating, by the processor, an overall pattern of shade by the combination of the first pattern of shade, the second pattern of shade and the third pattern of shade at the area of interest, wherein the overall pattern of shade protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest.
A system comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the processor,
- the tangible, non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
- adjusting, by the processor and based on sensor data associated with daylight on an area of interest, a first window shade a first adjustment to create a first pattern of shade that protects against direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- adjusting, by the processor and based on the sensor data, a second window shade a second adjustment to create a second pattern of shade that protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- adjusting, by the processor and based on the sensor data, a third window shade a third adjustment to create a third pattern of shade that protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- creating, by the processor, an overall pattern of shade by the combination of the first pattern of shade, the second pattern of shade and the third pattern of shade at the area of interest, wherein the overall pattern of shade protects against the direct solar radiation onto the area of interest, while allowing daylight into one or more regions outside the area of interest;
- and
- communicating, by the processor and to an artificial lighting control system, information regarding at least one of a presence of shadow or reflected light on the area of interest such that the artificial lighting system adjusts the artificial lighting.
