Abstract
An apparatus for detecting a locating medium in tissue includes a probe, and a console. The probe includes a handle and a detector disposed on a distal end of the probe. The console is in communication and includes a display. The display has a first graphical representation and a second graphical representation. The first graphical representation is configured to depict a count real-time count based on a signal from the detector. The second graphical representation is configured to depict a target count.
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- (a) an instrument console including a display;
- (b) a probe in communication with the instrument console, the probe including a detector, the display being configured to depict a signal generated by the detector based on proximity of the detector to a locating medium;
- and
- (c) a temperature sensor associated with the instrument console or the probe, the temperature sensor being in communication with the instrument console, the instrument console being configured to automatically compensate for temperature drift of the signal generated by the detector based on a temperature detected by the temperature sensor.
A system, comprising:
- (a) a probe in communication with the console, the probe including:
- (i) an elongate body,
- (ii) a distal probe tip,
- (iii) a proximity sensor proximate the distal probe tip, the proximity sensor being configured to sense the strength of a signal received from a source disposed within tissue, and
- (iv) a temperature sensor configured to detect an operational temperature;
- and
- (b) a console including a display, the display having a first graphical representation and a second graphical representation, the first graphical representation being configured to depict a real-time count, the second graphical representation being configured to depict a target count, the console being configured to adjust the real-time count depicted by the first graphical representation based on the operational temperature detected by the temperature sensor.
A method for detecting propagation of a locating medium within a body, the method comprising:
- (a) measuring a first signal generated by a detector proximate the first location to generate a target signal, the target signal being proportionate to a distance between the detector and the locating medium being positioned at a first location;
- (b) measuring a second signal generated by the detector proximate a second location to generate a real-time signal;
- and
- (c) adjusting the real-time signal based on an operational temperature associated with the detector.
