Intelligent proactive template driven edge caching method and apparatus

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium tangibly encoded with computer-executable instructions that when executed by a processor associated with a computing device perform a method comprising:

• obtaining, in connection with a client device, a template comprising information identifying a number of data retrieval operations and timing information corresponding to each data retrieval operation;
• using the timing information corresponding to a data retrieval operation of the number of data retrieval operations to determine a time to perform the data retrieval operation;
• performing, in accordance with the determined time, the data retrieval operation to retrieve data from a first data storage;
• and
• causing the data to be stored in a second data storage for access by the client device.

A computing device comprising:

• a processor;
• a non-transitory storage medium for tangibly storing thereon program logic for execution by the processor, the program logic comprising:
• obtaining logic executed by the processor for obtaining, in connection with a client device, a template comprising information identifying a number of data retrieval operations and timing information corresponding to each data retrieval operation;
• using logic executed by the processor for using the timing information corresponding to a data retrieval operation of the number of data retrieval operations to determine a time to perform the data retrieval operation;
• performing logic executed by the processor for performing, in accordance with the determined time, the data retrieval operation to retrieve data from a first data storage;
• and
• causing logic executed by the processor for causing the data to be stored in a second data storage for access by the client device.
