Abstract
A system for monitoring vital signs includes: an imaging device for acquiring video image files of a living individual; a data analysis system including a processor and memory; a computer program running in the data analysis system to automatically analyze the video images, autonomously identify an area in the images where periodic movements associated with a selected vital sign may be detected and quantified; and, an interface that outputs an electrical signal corresponding to the waveform of the selected vital sign. The system may include a Graphical User Interface, which may display a visual graph of the waveform and a single video frame or a video stream of the individual.
Claims13
A monitoring system, comprising:
- a data analysis system including a processor and a memory for storing video image files, wherein each video file comprises a sequence of video frames of a scene that are divided into pixels defined by two or more spatial coordinates within each frame;
- and
- a computer program operating in said processor to:
- identify a first set of pixels in said video frames based on an intensity value of either light intensity changes from periodic motions or intensity changes in thermal IR associated with periodic temperature changes of a subject individual;
- determine a change in the intensity value of the first set of pixels from a first time to a second time wherein the change is associated with one or more vital signs of said subject individual;
- and
- match at least one characteristic diagnostic template to a waveform of the one or more vital signs to identify an event of clinical importance or an event associated with sleep quality or stress.
A monitoring system, comprising:
- a data analysis system including a processor and a memory for storing video image files, wherein each video file comprises a sequence of video frames of a scene that are divided into pixels defined by two or more spatial coordinates within each frame;
- a computer program operating in said processor to:
- identify at least a first set of pixels in said video frames that are associated with a first individual based on an intensity value of either light intensity changes from periodic motions of the first individual or intensity changes in thermal IR associated with periodic temperature changes of the first individual's vital signs;
- produce a waveform of the periodic motions or temperature changes of the first individual based on the intensity value of said first set of pixels;
- and
- adjust a thermostat in communication with said processor to change a temperature of the ambient environment around the first individual.
A monitoring system, comprising:
- a data analysis system including processor and memory for storing video image files, wherein each video file comprises a sequence of video frames of a scene that are divided into pixels defined by two or more spatial coordinates within each frame;
- and
- a computer program operating in said processor to:
- automatically identify a first set of pixels within a defined perimeter in a field of view of the video frames based on an intensity value of either light intensity changes from periodic motions or intensity changes in thermal IR associated with periodic temperature changes of a subject individual,
- determine a change in the intensity value of the first set of pixels from a first time to a second time wherein the change in the intensity value is associated with one or more measured vital signs of said subject individual;
- detect at least one undesirable event comprising an occurrence of values of the one or more measured vital signs outside a predetermined limit or an entrance of an intruder into the field of view;
- save one or more of the video frames associated with the at least one undesirable event;
- and
- send an alert.
A monitoring system, comprising:
- a data analysis system including a processor and a memory for storing video image files from two or more visual or IR camera video sources, wherein each video file comprises a sequence of video frames of a scene that are divided into pixels defined by two or more spatial coordinates within each frame;
- and
- a computer program operating in said processor to:
- automatically identify a first set of pixels within a defined perimeter in a field of view of the video frames of each of the two or more video sources based on an intensity value of either light intensity changes from periodic motions or intensity changes in thermal IR associated with periodic temperature changes of a subject individual, and
- measure two or more vital signs of the subject individuals based on the intensity value associated with said located pixels in real time.
