Abstract
A gas sensor has a light detector, a gas-tight support structure enclosing the light detector, a window positioned in said support structure, and a light source mounted to the support structure. A sample area is positioned in the support structure to receive a gas to be tested. The light source is aligned with the window, sample area, and the light detector to pass light from the light source through the gas in the sample area to the light detector. The sensor can be provided in a breadth sampling apparatus that has deflects gas to a bypass route so that only a portion of gas reaches the sensor.
Claims20
A gas sensor comprising:
- a printed circuit board;
- an optical detector on the printed circuit board;
- a support assembly arranged over the optical detector and attached to the printed circuit board, the support assembly comprising:
- a base portion enclosing the optical detector on the printed circuit board;
- a middle portion with at least one opening and a sample chamber whereby gas enters the sample chamber through the at least one opening;
- and
- a top portion;
- an optical source arranged at the top portion of the support assembly, wherein optical radiation is directed from the optical source through the sample chamber to the optical detector;
- a window arranged in the support assembly and_positioned over the optical detector;
- and
- a heating element operably connected to the window,
- wherein the sample chamber is defined between the optical source and the window and
- wherein the window is between the optical detector and the sample chamber and
- wherein the window is in contact with the optical detector.
A gas sensor comprising:
- a light detector on a printed circuit board;
- a support structure attached to the printed circuit board and enclosing said light detector;
- a window positioned in said support structure, wherein the light detector is between the window and the printed circuit board;
- a light source mounted to said support structure, the light source aligned with said window and said light detector, the light source configured to direct light from said light source to said light detector through a sample chamber defined by the support structure and through said window;
- and
- a heating element operably connected to said window,
- wherein the sample chamber is defined between the light source and the window and
- wherein the window is between the light source and the sample chamber and wherein the window is in contact with the optical detector.
A gas sensor comprising:
- a light detector on a printed circuit board;
- a support structure attached to the printed circuit board and enclosing said light detector;
- a window positioned in said support structure, wherein the light detector is between the window and the printed circuit board;
- a light source mounted to said support structure, the light source aligned with said window and said light detector, the light source configured to direct light from said light source to said light detector through a sample chamber defined by the support structure and through said window;
- and
- a heating element operably connected to said window,
- wherein the sample chamber is defined between the light source and the window and
- wherein the window is between the light source and the sample chamber, and
- wherein the window is attached to the printed circuit board by one or more fasteners.
