Abstract
A system includes an exhaust collector tunnel (32) configured to mount inside an exhaust collector (30) of a gas turbine (12). The exhaust collector tunnel (32) has a tunnel wall (33) configured to extend around a turbine shaft (17, 19) of the gas turbine (12). The tunnel wall (33) has a variable diameter (98) along at least a portion of a length of the exhaust collector tunnel (32).
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- an exhaust collector tunnel configured to mount inside an exhaust collector of a gas turbine, wherein the exhaust collector tunnel comprises a tunnel wall configured to extend around a turbine shaft of the gas turbine, wherein the exhaust collector tunnel comprises a first coupling portion configured to at least partially extend into an exhaust diffuser and removably couple with the gas turbine and a second coupling portion configured to removably couple with a diverging section downstream from the exhaust diffuser, wherein an exhaust flow path extends through the exhaust diffuser, along the tunnel wall of the exhaust collector tunnel, and along the diverging section, wherein the tunnel wall has a variable diameter along at least a portion of a length of the exhaust collector tunnel, wherein the variable diameter comprises a tapered wall portion having an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the exhaust collector tunnel, the angle is less than or equal to 30 degrees, and a second wall portion having an angle different than the tapered wall portion, and the tapered wall portion extends along at least 10 percent of the length of the exhaust collector tunnel.
A system, comprising:
- an exhaust collector configured to couple to a gas turbine, wherein the exhaust collector comprises:
- an exhaust collector frame;
- an exhaust diffuser disposed in the exhaust collector frame;
- a diverging section disposed in the exhaust collector frame downstream from the exhaust diffuser;
- and
- an exhaust collector tunnel disposed in the exhaust collector frame between the exhaust diffuser and the diverging section, wherein the exhaust collector tunnel comprises a tunnel wall configured to extend around a turbine shaft of the gas turbine, wherein the exhaust collector tunnel comprises a first coupling portion extending at least partially into the exhaust diffuser and configured to removably couple with the gas turbine and a second coupling portion removably coupled with the diverging section, wherein an exhaust flow path extends through the exhaust diffuser, along the tunnel wall of the exhaust collector tunnel, and along the diverging section, wherein the tunnel wall has a variable diameter along at least a portion of a length of the exhaust collector tunnel, wherein the variable diameter comprises a tapered wall portion having an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the exhaust collector tunnel, the angle is less than or equal to 30 degrees, and a second wall portion having an angle different than the tapered wall portion, and the tapered wall portion extends along at least 10 percent of the length of the exhaust collector tunnel.

A method, comprising:
- providing an exhaust collector tunnel configured to mount inside an exhaust collector of a gas turbine, wherein the exhaust collector tunnel comprises a tunnel wall configured to extend around a turbine shaft of the gas turbine, wherein the exhaust collector tunnel comprises a first coupling portion configured to at least partially extend into an exhaust diffuser and removably couple with the gas turbine and a second coupling portion configured to removably couple with a diverging section downstream from the exhaust diffuser, wherein an exhaust flow path extends through the exhaust diffuser, along the tunnel wall of the exhaust collector tunnel, and along the diverging section, wherein the tunnel wall has a variable diameter along at least a portion of a length of the exhaust collector tunnel, wherein the variable diameter comprises a tapered wall portion having an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the exhaust collector tunnel, the angle is less than or equal to 30 degrees, and a second wall portion having an angle different than the tapered wall portion, and the tapered wall portion extends along at least 10 percent of the length of the exhaust collector tunnel.
