Abstract
A computer implemented method for detecting whether a seat belt is used in a vehicle comprises the following steps carried out by computer hardware components: acquiring an image of an interior of the vehicle; determining a plurality of sub-images based on the image; detecting, for at least one of the sub-images, whether a portion of the seat belt is present in the respective sub-image; and determining whether the seat belt is used based on the detecting.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method for detecting whether a seat belt is used in a vehicle, the method comprising:
- acquiring an image of an interior of the vehicle;
- determining, based on the image, a plurality of sub-images;
- detecting, for the sub-images and in a sequential manner through the plurality of sub-images, whether a portion of the seat belt is present in the respective sub-image;
- and
- responsive to detecting that the portion of the seat belt is not present in the respective sub-image, terminating processing of the respective sub-image and determining that the seat belt is not used;
- or
- responsive to detecting that the portion of the seat belt is present in the respective sub-image, determining whether the seat belt is used based on the detecting.
A system comprising:
- at least one sensor configured to acquire an image of an interior of a vehicle;
- and
- one or more processors configured to:
- determine, based on the image, a plurality of sub-images;
- detect, for the sub-images and in a sequential manner through the plurality of sub-images, whether a portion of the seat belt is present in the respective sub-image;
- and
- responsive to detecting that the portion of the seat belt is not present in the respective sub-image, terminating processing of the respective sub-image and determining that the seat belt is not used;
- or
- responsive to a detection that the portion of the seat belt is present in the respective sub-image, determine whether the seat belt is used based on the detection.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed, cause a processor to:
- obtain an image of an interior of the vehicle;
- determine, based on the image, a plurality of sub-images;
- detect, for the sub-images and in a sequential manner through the plurality of sub-images, whether a portion of the seat belt is present in the respective sub-image;
- and
- responsive to detecting that the portion of the seat belt is not present in the respective sub-image, terminating processing of the respective sub-image and determining that the seat belt is not used;
- or
- responsive to a detection that the portion of the seat belt is present in the respective sub-image, determine whether the seat belt is used based on the detection.
