Abstract
A device for infusing liquid medicaments such as insulin includes an infusion pump. The device can modify a medicament delivery protocol stored in memory to delivery an alternative medicament delivery protocol with the pump.
Claims22
An ambulatory infusion pump, comprising:
- a reservoir configured to contain a medicament for treatment of diabetes;
- a pumping mechanism configured to deliver the medicament in the reservoir to a user;
- a memory configured to store one or more medicament delivery protocols for delivery of the medicament to the user;
- a user interface;
- and
- a processor configured to receive user input via the user interface and to control the pumping mechanism to deliver the medicament to the user, wherein the processor is further configured to:
- receive an indication of a type of medicament contained in the reservoir;
- modify a medicament delivery protocol of the one or more medicament delivery protocols to an alternate medicament delivery protocol of the one or more medicament delivery protocols based on the type of medicament contained in the reservoir;
- and
- cause the pumping mechanism to deliver the type of medicament contained in the reservoir to the user according to the alternate medicament delivery protocol.

- an ambulatory infusion pump including a reservoir configured to contain a medicament and a pumping mechanism configured to deliver the medicament in the reservoir to a user;
- a memory configured to store one or more medicament delivery protocols for delivery of the medicament to the user;

- and
- a processor configured to:
- receive an indication of a type of medicament contained in the reservoir;
- modify a medicament delivery protocol of the one or more medicament delivery protocols to an alternate medicament delivery protocol of the one ore more medicament delivery protocols based on the type of medicament contained in the reservoir;
- and
- cause the pumping mechanism to deliver the type of medicament contained in the reservoir to the user according to the alternate medicament delivery protocol.
