A method for enhancing cognitive ability in a patient consisting essentially of identifying a desire to boost cognitive ability, administering therapeutically effective amounts of an extract from aerial plant parts of Sideritis ssp to the patient to enhance cognitive ability in the patient, wherein said aerial plant parts are selected from the group of Sideritis euboa, Sideritis scardica, Sideritis raiseri, or mixtures thereof, wherein the extract has been prepared by means of an extractant comprising a mixture of water and ethanol.
