A composition for reducing microbial activity in an environment susceptible to microbial activity, consisting of:
- gold nanoparticles;
- hydrogen peroxide;
- a mineralization agent selected from the group consisting of calcium phosphate, dicalcium phosphate, and tricalcium phosphate;
- and
- water,
- wherein the composition is an aqueous composition configured to be suitable for oral use.
