Abstract
A botanical extract that exhibits antioxidant activity, wherein the botanical extract is at least an extract from the genus Anacardium.
Claims5
A method of inhibiting oxidation-induced DNA damage in a subject comprising:
- administering a composition comprising a botanical extract of the testa of the seed of Anacardium occidentale L.,
- wherein the botanical extract is present in the composition in a therapeutically effective amount of about 30.0 μg/mL to about 500.0 μg/mL,
- wherein the botanical extract has been standardized to a catechin content of about 15.0 w/w % or greater, based on total weight of the extract, and
- wherein the composition inhibits oxidation-induced DNA damage.
