A method for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, gluten ataxia, dermatitis herpetiformis or wheat allergy in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising B. longum strain CNCM I-2618 and 0.03 to 0.40 wt % of a sugar selected from the group consisting of lactose, fructose, raffinose, and combinations thereof.
