Abstract
An anhydrous topical composition provides a water repellent surface. The anhydrous topical composition has at least one film former with surface tension lower than 35 dynes/cm, at least one particle having a hydrophobic surface or a hydrophobic surface treatment, and a volatile topical carrier.
Claims22
An anhydrous topical composition comprising:
- a water repellant component comprising:
- at least one film former comprising a silicone having a surface tension lower than 35 dynes/cm, wherein said silicone comprises C24-28 alkyldimethylsiloxy trimethylsiloxysilicate, trifluoropropyldimethylsiloxy/trimethylsiloxy silsesquioxane, or combinations thereof, and wherein said at least one film former is present in an amount of 0.5% to 10% by weight based on a total weight of said anhydrous topical composition;
- hydrophobic particles comprising polymethylsilsesquioxane and silica silylate, wherein said polymethylsilsesquioxane is present in an amount greater than 0.5% based on the total weight of said anhydrous topical composition, and wherein said particles are present in an amount up to 10% by weight based on the total weight of said anhydrous topical composition;
- and
- a volatile topical carrier present in an amount of 10% to 80% by weight based on the total weight of said anhydrous topical composition;
- and
- a sunscreen active agent selected from the group consisting of an organic sunscreen active agent, wherein said anhydrous topical composition is free of colorants.

A topical composition comprising:
- a sunscreen active agent selected from the group consisting of an organic sunscreen active agent;
- and
- an anhydrous water repellant component comprising:
- at least one film former comprising a silicone having a surface tension lower than 35 dynes/cm, wherein said silicone comprises C24-28 alkyldimethylsiloxy trimethylsiloxysilicate, trifluoropropyldimethylsiloxy/trimethylsiloxy silsesquioxane, or combinations thereof, and wherein said at least one film former is present in an amount of 0.5% to 10% by weight based on a total weight of said topical composition;
- hydrophobic particles comprising polymethylsilsesquioxane and silica silylate, wherein said polymethylsilsesquioxane is present in an amount greater than 0.5% based on the total weight of said topical composition, and wherein said particles are present in an amount up to 10% by weight based on the total weight of said topical composition;
- and
- a volatile topical carrier present in an amount of 10% to 80% by weight based on the total weight of said topical composition,
- wherein said topical composition is in the form of an emulsion, and wherein said topical composition is free of colorants.
