Abstract
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging systems, handhold probes, and methods that use a field curvature to match a curved surface of tissue are disclosed. According to an aspect, an OCT imaging system includes optical elements to generate diverging light. The system also includes one or more mirrors and a lens system configured to scan the diverging light onto a curved surface of an object for imaging of the object.
Claims26
An optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging system comprising:
- optical elements configured to generate diverging light;
- and
- at least one mirror and a 5 focal length (5F) lens system including lenses that scan the diverging light onto a curved surface of an object for imaging of the object, wherein a field curvature of the 5F lens system as applied to the curved surface of the object substantially matches the curved surface of the object.
A method for optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging, the method comprising:
- using optical elements to generate diverging light;
- and
- using at least one mirror and a 5 focal length (5F) lens system including lenses that scan the diverging light onto a curved surface of an object for imaging of the object, wherein a field curvature of the 5F lens system as applied to the curved surface of the object substantially matches the curved surface of the object.
An optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging probe comprising:
- an OCT system comprising:
- optical elements to generate diverging light;
- and
- at least one mirror and a 5 focal length (5F) lens system including lenses that scan the diverging light onto a curved surface of an object for imaging of the object, wherein a field curvature of the 5F lens system as applied to the curved surface of the object substantially matches the curved surface of the object;
- and
- a body defining a tip and an interior that contains the OCT system, wherein the tip defines an opening through which light from the OCT system passes.
