Abstract
In some embodiments, radio-frequency amplifiers can include a plurality of narrow band power amplifiers implemented. Each narrow band power amplifier can be configured to operate with a high voltage in an average power tracking mode and be capable of being coupled to an output filter associated with a respective individual frequency band. Each narrow band power amplifier can be sized smaller than a wide band power amplifier configured to operate with more than one of the frequency bands associated with the plurality of narrow band power amplifiers.
Claims19
A semiconductor die comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- a plurality of amplifiers implemented on the substrate, each amplifier configured to operate with a high voltage in an average power tracking mode for a respective frequency band, each amplifier sized smaller than a wide band amplifier configured to operate with more than one of the frequency bands associated with the plurality of amplifiers, the semiconductor die providing a lower loss than another semiconductor die having one or more amplifiers providing similar frequency band handling capability but in which each of the one or more amplifiers operates with a low voltage.
A radio-frequency module comprising:
- a packaging substrate configured to receive a plurality of components;
- and
- an amplification system implemented on the packaging substrate, and including a plurality of amplifiers implemented on a semiconductor die, each amplifier configured to operate with a high voltage in an average power tracking mode for a respective frequency band, each amplifier sized smaller than a wide band amplifier configured to operate with more than one of the frequency bands associated with the plurality of amplifiers, the semiconductor die providing a lower loss than another semiconductor die having one or more amplifiers providing similar frequency band handling capability but in which each of the one or more amplifiers operates with a low voltage.
A wireless device comprising:
- a transceiver;
- a radio-frequency module in communication with the transceiver and having an amplification system that includes a plurality of amplifiers implemented on a semiconductor die, each amplifier configured to operate with a high voltage in an average power tracking mode for a respective frequency band, each amplifier sized smaller than a wide band amplifier configured to operate with more than one of the frequency bands associated with the plurality of amplifiers, the semiconductor die providing a lower loss than another semiconductor die having one or more amplifiers providing similar frequency band handling capability but in which each of the one or more amplifiers operates with a low voltage;
- and
- an antenna in communication with the radio-frequency module.
