Abstract
A shift mechanism having a biasing member that operatively connects a detent linkage to a linkage. The biasing member permits an actuator shaft of an actuator and the detent linkage to rotate about an actuator axis with respect to the linkage when a shift collar is inhibited from moving along the axis.
Claims20
A shift mechanism comprising:
- an actuator that has an actuator shaft that is rotatable about an actuator axis;
- a detent linkage that is rotatable about the actuator axis with the actuator shaft;
- a linkage that is rotatable about the actuator axis;
- a shift collar that is operatively connected to the linkage and moveable along an axis;
- and
- a biasing member that operatively connects the detent linkage to the linkage and that permits the actuator shaft and the detent linkage to rotate about the actuator axis with respect to the linkage when the shift collar is inhibited from moving along the axis.

A shift mechanism comprising:
- an actuator that has an actuator shaft that is rotatable about an actuator axis;
- a detent linkage that is rotatable about the actuator axis with the actuator shaft, the detent linkage having a detent linkage shaft that is disposed along the actuator axis and a detent linkage plate that extends from the detent linkage shaft;
- a linkage that is rotatable about the actuator axis;
- a shift collar that is operatively connected to the linkage and moveable along an axis;
- and
- a biasing member that controls relative rotational movement of the linkage and the detent linkage, the biasing member including:
- a first coil that extends around the actuator axis and that has a first tab that extends away from the actuator axis;
- and
- a second coil that extends around the actuator axis and that is disposed adjacent to the first coil, the second coil having a second tab that extends away from the actuator axis, wherein the first tab and the second tab are positioned about the actuator axis such that the first tab is rotationally offset from the second tab.
