Abstract
Systems, methods, and computer readable storage media for controlling oxidation of a particulate filter (PF) are closed. The oxidation of the PF may be controlled using a PF model. The PF model may be utilized to simulate operations of the PF based on various input data and/or derived data to determine an optimum time for initiating an oxidation event at the PF, and an oxidation event may be initiated at the PF based on the simulating.
Claims20
A method for controlling oxidation of a particulate filter (PF), the method comprising:
- compiling, by a processor, input data for initializing a PF modelling program comprising a model of the PF;
- executing, by the processor, the PF modelling program to simulate the PF based at least in part on the compiled input data and the model of the PF, wherein the simulation of the PF using the PF modelling program comprises:
- calculating soot characteristics representative of soot present in the model of the PF;
- and
- determining a 3-dimensional (3D) temperate estimate for the model of the PF based on the soot characteristics, information associated with physical characteristics of the PF, and one or more reaction parameters;
- and
- initiating an oxidation event at the PF based on the simulation of the PF using the PF model of the PF modelling program.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations for controlling oxidation of a particulate filter (PF), the operations comprising:
- compiling input data for initializing a PF modelling program comprising a model of the PF;
- executing the PF modelling program to simulate the PF based at least in part on the compiled input data and the model of the PF, wherein the simulation of the PF using the PF modelling program comprises:
- calculating soot characteristics representative of soot present in the model of the PF;
- and
- determining a 3-dimensional (3D) temperate estimate for the model of the PF based on the soot characteristics, information associated with physical characteristics of the PF, and one or more reaction parameters;
- and
- initiating an oxidation event at the PF based on the simulation of the PF using the PF model of the PF modelling program.
A system for controlling oxidation of a particulate filter (PF), the system comprising:
- an engine;
- a particular filter (PF) configured to process at least a portion of exhaust generated by the engine;
- one or more sensors;
- a memory;
- and
- one or more processors communicatively coupled to the memory and the one or more sensors, the one or more processors configured to:
- compile input data for initializing a PF modelling program based on information received from the one or more sensors, the PF modelling program comprising a model of the PF;
- execute the PF modelling program to simulate the PF based at least in part on the compiled input data and the model of the PF, wherein the simulation of the PF using the PF modelling program comprises:
- calculating soot characteristics representative of soot present in the model of the PF;
- and
- determining a 3-dimensional (3D) temperate estimate for the model of the PF based on the soot characteristics, information associated with physical characteristics of the PF, and one or more reaction parameters;
- and
- initiate an oxidation event at the PF based on the simulation of the PF using the PF model of the PF modelling program.
