Abstract
A surface wiper device which includes a carrier which supports a blade. The carrier attaches to a wiper arm which urges the blade against and moves the blade across the surface of a windshield. The carrier further provides a plurality of outlets each of which communicate between a hollow passage inside the carrier and a location on the external surface of the carrier. A fluid can be delivered from a fluid source fluidicly coupled to the hollow passage of the carrier under sufficient pressure to be dispersed from the plurality of outlets onto the windshield during movement of the blade. A fluid heater can be thermally coupled with the fluid delivered from the fluid source to the plurality of outlets to increase the temperature of the fluid dispersed onto the windshield. The fluid can be sufficiently heated to generate a heated gas.
Claims21
A method of making a wiper, comprising:
- enclosing a hollow passage defined by an internal surface of a carrier, said carrier having an external surface defining a longitudinal length disposed between a carrier first end and a carrier second end;
- disposing a plurality of outlets in said carrier which communicate between said internal surface of said carrier and said external surface of said carrier, said plurality of outlets configured to deliver an amount of fluid from said hollow passage to said external surface of said carrier;
- disposing a pair of blade supports in said carrier extending in generally parallel relation along the longitudinal length of said carrier between said carrier first end and said carrier second end, each of said pair of blade supports configured to correspondingly receive one of a pair of blades, each of said pair of blades, including:
- a base correspondingly received in one of said pair of blade supports disposed in said carrier;
- and
- a sweeping surface extending outwardly from said base, and wherein said pair of blades received in said pair blade supports extend in generally parallel relation along the longitudinal length of said carrier between a carrier first end and a carrier second end, said pair of blades having first ends terminating proximate said carrier first end and second ends terminating proximate said carrier second end.
A method of making wiper, comprising:
- disposing a longitudinal length of an external surface of a carrier between a carrier first end and a carrier second end, said carrier having an internal surface defining a hollow passage;
- disposing at least one outlet in said carrier which communicates between said internal surface of said carrier and said external surface of said carrier, said at least one outlet configured to deliver an amount of fluid from said hollow passage to said external surface of said carrier;
- disposing a blade support in said carrier extending along the longitudinal length of said carrier between said carrier first end and said carrier second end, said blade support configured to receive a base of at least one blade;
- fluidically coupling a fluid source to said hollow passage in said carrier, said fluid source configured to contain an amount of liquid;
- fluidically coupling a fluid flow generator to said fluid source capable of generating a flow of said amount of liquid between said fluid source and said at least one outlet of said carrier;
- and
- fluidically coupling a fluid heater to said fluid source capable of controlling temperature of said amount of liquid.
