A shaping system for cutting a material, the shaping system comprising:
- a table for supporting the material, the table defining a longitudinal axis and lateral directions transverse to the longitudinal axis;
- at least a first carriage unit and a second carriage unit that are independently operable to travel in a travel direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the table, the first carriage unit comprising a first arm, the second carriage unit comprising a second arm;
- a cutting device coupled to the first arm and adapted to form a slit in the material;
- a deburring device coupled to the second arm and comprising means for forcibly removing burrs from the slit, the first and second arms being placed along the longitudinal axis so that the deburring device is behind the cutting device relative to the travel direction and the deburring device directs the means for forcibly removing burrs in the travel direction and toward a breakthrough point of the slit, the cutting device and the deburring device being coupled to the first and second arms, respectively, so as to be independently movable in the travel direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the table, be independently movable in the lateral directions transverse to the longitudinal axis of the table, and simultaneously perform cutting and deburring operations, respectively, from opposite surfaces of the material;
- motorized means for causing the first arm and the cutting device coupled thereto to move in the lateral directions and for causing the second arm and the deburring device coupled thereto to move in the lateral directions;
- means for causing the first and second carriage units to independently and simultaneously travel in the travel direction so that the first and second carriage units cause the cutting device and the deburring device, respectively, to travel in unison in the travel direction at linear velocities and so that the deburring device travels behind the cutting device in the travel direction;
- and
- means associated with the second carriage unit for oscillating the deburring device parallel to the travel direction so that the deburring device moves toward and away from the breakthrough point of the slit to remove burrs at the breakthrough point and so that the deburring device moves at a linear velocity greater than the linear velocities of the cutting device and the deburring device.
