Abstract
The present invention relates generally to a three-dimensional cell and tissue culture system for the female reproductive tract. In particular provided herein the system includes individual female reproductive cultures in a dynamic microfluidic setting or integrated using a microfluidic microphysiologic system. In some embodiments, the present invention provides ex-vivo female reproductive tract integration in a three dimensional (3D) microphysiologic system.
Claims9
A microphysiologic system comprising:
- (a) a first 3D cell culture subsystem comprising at least a female reproductive cell type in 3D culture and a culture media for said female reproductive cell type;
- and
- (b) a second 3D cell culture subsystem comprising at least a non-reproductive system cell type in 3D culture and a culture media for said non-reproductive system cell type;
- wherein the first 3D cell culture subsystem and the second 3D cell culture subsystem are in unidirectional fluid communication such that fluid from one of the first or second 3D cell culture subsystem flows downstream to the other of the first or second 3D cell culture subsystem.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
