Event verification engine

A computer system for verifying information relating to an event, the computer system comprising:

• a. a network interface in communication with a plurality of responder devices via a computer network;
• b. processing circuitry comprising a processor configured to:
• receive media feed information comprising online media data aggregated from a plurality of media sources;
• analyze the media feed information to recognize a single event from the plurality of media sources, thereby identifying a potential event in need of verification;
• determine a location for the potential event from the media feed information;
• identify a pool of responder devices each having a location tracker device indicating a location for each of one or more responders in a vicinity of the potential event;
• determine whether a responder associated with a responder device in the pool of responder devices is an eligible responder or an ineligible responder;
• filter eligible responders from ineligible responders to generate a set of eligible responder devices;
• solicit verification of information relating to the potential event from the set of eligible responder devices;
• receive responses to the verification solicitation from one or more of the responder devices in the set of eligible responder devices, wherein the responses confirm or disconfirm the information relating to the potential event;
• determine whether the media feed information is confirmed or disconfirmed by the responses received from the one or more of the responder devices in the set of eligible responder devices;
• identify the potential event as verified or not verified;
• and
• output the determination.
