Dynamic configuring of reliability and density of non-volatile memories

A method comprising:

• retrieving, using control circuitry, user partition configuration data identifying a plurality of bit densities for a plurality of memory regions;
• converting, using the control circuitry, a received user address to a plurality of physical addresses based, at least in part, on the plurality of bit densities;
• comparing, using the control circuitry, the user address with the user partition configuration data;
• selecting, using the control circuitry, one of the plurality of physical addresses based, at least in part, on the comparison;
• and
• determining a dynamic reference pattern based on the user partition configuration data.

A system comprising:

• a non-volatile memory device comprising:
• a memory array comprising a plurality of memory regions, each of the plurality of memory regions having a configurable bit density;
• control circuitry configured to:
• retrieve user partition configuration data identifying a plurality of bit densities for the plurality of memory regions;
• convert a received user address to a plurality of physical addresses based, at least in part, on the plurality of bit densities;
• compare the user address with the user partition configuration data;
• select one of the plurality of physical addresses based, at least in part, on the comparison;
• read dynamic reference state bits and determine a dynamic reference pattern during a program operation;
• update the dynamic reference state bits during the program operation;
• and
• determine, during an erase operation, a dynamic reference pattern based on the user partition configuration data;
• and
• at least one register configured to store the user partition configuration data.
