Abstract
Provided herein is a method for treating an inflammatory bowel disease in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a hemoglobin to the subject.

A method for treating an inflammatory bowel disease in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a hemoglobin to the subject, wherein the hemoglobin is a recombinant hemoglobin comprising a di-alpha chain and two beta chains, wherein the di-alpha chain comprises a polypeptide sequence consisting of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- and each of the two beta chains comprise a polypeptide sequence consisting of SEQ ID NO:
- 2, and wherein the hemoglobin has an oxygen p50 value between 20 and 50 mmHg.
The method of claim wherein the hemoglobin has an oxygen p50 value greater than 24 mm Hg, and less than 50 mm Hg.
